Blogger Drives Me to Binge Eat

Blogger has pissed me off for the last time. I apologize ahead of time for any foul language that may occur in this post but I have been pushed to my breaking point. Do you know how long it took me to get last night's post to finally publish? 3 hours! THREE hours! That's insane. That's ridiculous. Seriously! What did I ever do to Blogger to make it hate me so? I really don't understand why we can't just all get along. Ugh! And so my friends I'm moving on to another relationship, one that will show me a little more love. Yes, I'm moving to Typepad. I realize it's not free. At this point I don't care. I'll pay the $5/month if it will mean no more heartaches, no more nights sitting in front of the computer pulling my hair out. I figure it's worth it. I could stay with Blogger and be bald (due to the hair pulling) and fat (due to the binge eating) or I could pay $5 a month and be in a healthy, happy relationship with Typepad. And besides all that I think it will cost me less in the long run. $5 a month will be a whole lot less than purchasing a new computer when Blogger pushes me to the point that I hurl my computer into the wall...or the tv...or the bookshelves... Please come visit me at my new location. Right now it's a little rough (haven't gotten my photo loaded, my bio typed, my links transferred, etc.) but it will get there. I know it's a little inconvenient to change a sidebar link but at least for the time being you can always come here and just click anywhere on this post to get to my new blog. Same name, same me, only now it's just at typepad instead of blogger. And I promise you, if my family didn't read this blog my final pic with Blogger would be me, giving Blogger the bird.

Hasta la vista Blogger!

PS--For all you fellow Typepad users, please pass along any helpful hints, tips, and advice you might have for navigating through this new territory.

My advice would be to use WORDPRESS!!!

I mean, if you are going to bother going to all the work to change over to a bran new blog, at least do a real upgrade!!

Oh and everyone else who uses Blogger, you might want to consider making the switch too. Blogger is only going to get slower and slower until you're all bald and fat!

I made the switch 3 months ago and I am SOOOOO happy I did!! Wordpress is like a dream. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Oh I know exactly where you're coming from and that is why I switched!!! and don't ever ask anyone at blogger for help!! you get what you "pay" for! nothing!! when I lost my entire blog never got an answer till 2 weeks later and by then I was LONG gone!!! with typepad they are helpful and respond the same day or if late then the following!! you'll find it much easier once you get the hang of it really!! have fun and post the new site here so we all know!!
hugs Linda

Welcome to the dark side my dear. I would recommend getting the mid-range membership, you can costumize your blog a lot more.

I'm with Amystery on this one. Get the medium or premium range, although the medium will do just fine. But I love typepad, and have always gotten help when I needed it.

Typepad will make binge eating a thing of the past!

I started out with the $5 typepad for a month and then realized that I needed the next step up to customize a banner (I think it's the $9.95 one) and it's well worth it. I'm very happy with Typepad...never seen Wordpress but it might be worth looking into.
Good luck with the transition Michelle!

Good luck with Typepad. At some point I will move on too, but blogger hasn't broken the final straw just yet. I hope your easy to find on typepad...make sure to leave the forwarding address before you go!

I'd vote for WordPress as well. It is very simple to use and almost bulletproof. You could easily get your own domain, and get it hosted for the price of using Typepad. If you have questions, you can e-mail me through my blog.

Hi, from far across the other side of the world in Australia I have discovered your blog and love it. Yes join typepad, I have a blog there also and have not had a single problem with it. What is your new typepad address?

I've been wanting to make the jump too ~ just been too cheap to do so but I've had problems posting photos, etc. and enough already. A good friend loves wordpress although I'm thinking typepad is easier for moi.

I moved off Blogger on June 4. It's like an anniversary date of freedom for me. Anyway, if you decide on Wordpress, here is an excellent site to get you started:
Lorelle on WordPress. I actually use Movable Type, but I can apply Lorelle's tips to my blog.

Good luck, Michelle.

This sounds like the place to be. Have the same hate-hate relationship with Blogger. Just need to get off my backside and do something about it.

I feel your pain!!! Oh so weary of two column layout in that crappy brown; I live vicariously through others three column layouts. And I would love the freedom to create a piece ahead ot time and just post it on the right date. I making hundreds attempts to download one picture.

Yes, Yes, Yes: Blogger's constipation and eating up my posts has driven me nuts for the last time. Shortly before discovering you, I posted a message on my blogspot account.

I moved back "home" to blogger about 2 wks ago, customizing my template, (since I couldn't do that for $5/mo at typepad to the extent I crave), but the ensuing stress from reasons like you listed caused me to move back to typepad a few days ago. As soon as I did so, a wave of relief washed over me. Blogging is for relaxation and I felt sooooooo much better.

(I had originally moved to typepad in July and moved back to blogger because I thought I could save $ by coding myself. I can code, but the time wasted is not worth the money saved, as you said. If you don't want to customize your template their support is excellent, their loadtime is super, and I've been pleased. When I moved back recently I did upgrade to the mid level(plus) fo $7/month, which lets me be creative. (I'm an artist as well as a writer.)

I did do a trial of free wordpress for a week before moving back to blogger, but I was locked out of my account daily, with them not recognizing my password. Every time I logged on, I had to create a new password. I know many others happy with wordpress, but I did not receive but one customer support answer; that is in contrast to typepad who responded to me instantly and has an excellent FAQ base and intuitive dashboard.

If you have any questions on typepad, you can see my email contact on my typepad blog. I'd be happy to help if I can.
